How to use templates in word

Templates are available in Word to help users format their information according to what they want to create. Templates offer users an example of how to format their document. You can personalize and delete things in the template if need be. There are millions of templates available from brochures, resume, newsletter, flyers, thank you cards, and many more. Using a template in Word is very easy and useful. Here are the steps on how to create a template in a Word document.

1. Click on Word to open and then click New.

2.For example, you are looking for a newsletter. You need to click in the search engine at the top of the screen and type "newsletter" and press enter. Word uploads many options to choose from. Scroll down until you want the one you would like to use.

3. After you choose the template you would like to use, you can click on the template. Whenever the picture below displays, you then click create.

Personalizing a template is a great way to make your document your own. You can make it unique by inserting pictures, shapes, different font and sizes, and also color.  Below are some different examples on how to personalize a newsletter.

There are many things I done to this newsletter to personalize it.
  1. Changed the color of the logo
  2. Changed the font of the "The most natural food is fruit" and moved Morgan A. down below it to make more room for the statement above it
  3. Made the title "Weekly Newsletter" bigger
  4. added a picture style to the apple picture
  5. inserted a blue border around the orange picture
  6. Added a berry picture with a reflection format

Deleting things in a template are not hard and are needed when you want to personalize a document to make it your own. Here is and example on how to delete an item off a template

1. If you would like to delete this picture of this orange you just need to click on the picture and press delete.

2. If this paragraph is not needed in the newsletter, you can just highlight the text you want to remove and push delete or backspace.

After you deleted all the things you wanted removed from the newsletter, this is what it looks like:

Choosing a Template

Choosing a template depends on what you are creating. If it is for something professional, something for a kid,  or needing to reach a certain audience there are ones you would rather use over others. If it is something professional, a newsletter for the paper, you might not want multiple pictures and colors all over the document with different fonts. If you were creating an invitation to a kid's birthday party, all of these things on the invitation would be acceptable. Choosing which template you are going to use depends all upon what and who you are creating it for.

If you use a template over creating one form scratch, it helps you format what you want to create. Using a template is more productive because it is already set up for you. If you use a template for a newsletter, you can delete what is already there and replace it with your information. Also, the template is always there if you ever need to use it again.
