How to Set a Left Tab for a Modified-Block Style Letter

This is how the letter looks like when it is in block style. Modified-block style is when the senders date and closing are indented at 3.25''.

I am going to show you the steps on how to set a left tab for a modified-block letter.

1. Highlight the information that needs to have a left tab. Highlight the first part then click ''ctrl'' and highlight the bottom part. This way, it gets everything that needs to be tabbed all at once.

2. With the information still highlighted, on the home page click the paragraph dialog box.

4. When the paragraph dialog box opens, click the tabs button at the bottom left hand corner.

5. When you click tabs, it looks like this picture below. Under tab stop position, there is a line to type the amount you want to tab. Type 3.25'' and click Set. It will place 3.25'' underneath where you typed, do it saved your entry. You will then press OK.

6. Click in front of the date , June 3, 2017, and click tab. It will automatically change the tab to 3.25''. You will do the same thing for the closing. Remember to not tab the enclosure. The enclosure needs to stay where it is at.

After you tab all of the things I discussed, you have successfully created a modified-block style letter. The finished product will look like the picture below.
